Lumens is brightness, not distance
Lumens measures total light output. A 2,000-lumen light is very bright, but it usually only holds that peak for seconds before stepping down to protect itself from heat. The number that matters day to day is the sustained output, not the headline peak.
Throw vs flood
Two lights with the same lumens can look completely different. A thrower focuses the beam for distance; a flood spreads it wide for close work. EDC lights like the Arkfeld lean flood; dedicated distance lights lean throw.
Runtime is the trade-off
Higher output drains the battery faster and makes more heat. Most Olights have several modes - a low mode that runs for hours or days, and a turbo that lasts minutes. For everyday tasks you will live on the lower modes, so good runtime there matters more than the turbo figure.
What you actually need
Around the house / EDC: 100-500 lumens is plenty.
Outdoor / work: 500-1,500 lumens.
Distance / search: 1,500+ with real throw.
